The Origin: I Ching & BaZi is a mobile app for I Ching divination, Zhou Yi study, BaZi/Four Pillars analysis, and Chinese metaphysics learning.
You can explore all 64 hexagrams with detailed line-by-line explanations, cast I Ching readings, read your own BaZi birth chart, and learn how these systems work along the way. Everything is designed to be transparent, including the casting process, methodology, calculation details, and reasoning behind the results.
What makes The Origin unique?
The Origin brings together two classical Chinese metaphysics systems — I Ching and BaZi — in one app.
Users can cast I Ching readings, study hexagrams, explore Zhou Yi meanings, and generate BaZi/Four Pillars charts using traditional methods based on the foundations of these practices.
All calculations, chart generation, and key inputs follow established I Ching and BaZi principles. AI does not participate in the calculation process or determine the results. This allows users to see outcomes that remain faithful to the original practice while also understanding the method behind the reading, rather than simply receiving a generic, AI-generated answer.

Is The Origin an I Ching app, a BaZi app, or both?
The Origin is both an I Ching app and a BaZi app.
The I Ching side, found in the Divination tab, helps users ask questions, cast hexagrams, understand changing lines, and study the 64 hexagrams.
The BaZi side, found in the Destiny tab, helps users explore birth-chart-based analysis through the Four Pillars system.
This combination makes The Origin useful for people who want to study Chinese metaphysics more broadly instead of using separate tools for each tradition.
Who is The Origin best for?
The Origin is best for:
- people learning I Ching for the first time,
- people who want a transparent coin-divination app,
- users interested in Zhou Yi and the original hexagram tradition,
- people exploring BaZi or Four Pillars,
- users who want Chinese metaphysics in a simple mobile app,
- people who prefer visible methods instead of black-box answers.
It is also useful for users who want reflection, timing insight, pattern recognition, and personal development through traditional Chinese metaphysical systems.
How is The Origin different from other I Ching apps?
Many I Ching apps give you an answer. The Origin shows you how the answer is formed.
Every reading is built around transparent casting, visible hexagram transformation, and interpretation rooted in the Zhou Yi — the original core of the I Ching tradition. Instead of giving you a vague fortune-cookie response, The Origin lets you see the structure behind the reading.
Our approach is inspired by modern I Ching scholars such as Gao Heng and Li Jingchi, who focused on understanding the Zhou Yi as a Bronze-Age divination text before later philosophical commentaries were added. Many well-known translations, including the Wilhelm translation, blend the original Zhou Yi with later philosophy. These commentaries are valuable, but they can make it harder to see the original divinatory message clearly.
The Origin keeps these layers separate. For casting and interpretation, the app focuses first on the Zhou Yi itself. The result is a cleaner, more transparent, and more historically grounded I Ching experience — built for modern users who want more than a quick answer.
How is The Origin different from other BaZi apps?
Many BaZi apps either stop at chart generation or give you a reading without showing the reasoning behind it. You see the result, but you do not always know why the chart is interpreted that way.
The Origin is built differently. We make the BaZi process transparent.
The app shows the structure behind the analysis, including point calculations, combination details, and deduction logic. You can see not only what the result is, but also how it was calculated and why the system reached that conclusion.
AI does not calculate your chart. AI does not decide the result. AI does not create the verdict.
The Origin first generates the chart, combinations, scores, and conclusions through its own BaZi calculation system. AI is only used afterward to organize those existing points into clear, readable English.
This means the reading is not a black-box AI fortune-telling response. It is a structured BaZi analysis with visible logic behind it.

How does The Origin calculate I Ching readings?
The Origin supports traditional I Ching divination methods, including three-coin casting and Plum Blossom numerology.
For each reading, the app shows the full process: how each line is formed, which lines are changing, how the original hexagram is created, and how it transforms into the changed hexagram.
Instead of giving you only a final answer, The Origin lets you see the structure behind the reading. This makes the result easier to follow, easier to trust, and easier to study.

How does The Origin help with BaZi?
The Origin helps users learn, explore, and better understand BaZi, also known as Four Pillars of Destiny. BaZi uses birth information to build a chart based on the year, month, day, and hour pillars.
But The Origin is not just a chart generator. Our app is designed to help users understand how the chart is built and why certain conclusions are reached.
In the Learn section, users can view the details behind the system, including calculation methods, combination logic, point rules, time-adjustment practices, and the classical texts behind the interpretation. We are open about how the app handles chart structure, time adjustment, combinations, and reasoning.
This makes BaZi easier to study, easier to verify, and easier to trust. Instead of receiving a result with no explanation, users can explore the logic behind the reading step by step.
Is The Origin good for beginners?
Yes. The Origin is designed to be useful for beginners who are curious about I Ching, Zhou Yi, BaZi, and Chinese metaphysics.
Beginners can use the app to cast readings, study hexagrams, and start learning BaZi concepts without needing to understand every technical detail at the beginning.
At the same time, The Origin is also useful for more serious learners who want to inspect the method, compare results, and understand the reasoning behind each reading.
Who may not need The Origin?
The Origin may not be the best fit for users who only want a daily horoscope, a lucky-number app, or a fully AI-generated fortune-telling chatbot.
It is also not a replacement for professional medical, legal, financial, or mental-health advice. The app is best used for reflection, study, cultural learning, and personal insight.
